Continued on from Lane Tech to the University of Chicago
“I am currently leaning towards a major in Political Science or Public Policy and
have a course load of math, humanities, and social science classes. UChicago’s
rigor is close to what I expected, especially being so fast paced.
Outside of the university, I am working for the National Equity Project as an
Organizing Coach. I’ve been there for about five months training students how
to be activists in their own schools at Chicago and Wisconsin middle and high schools.
I also am a Program Coordinator for an emerging network of undocu-
mented Chicago Public School alum who are in higher education. The purpose of creating this network is to continue having a community of students from
similar backgrounds and expand the resources available at institutions of higher education.
While I am working these two jobs to be able to cover the rest of the costs to go
to school, the Massura scholarship has been a blessing in helping to close my
direct costs gap to pay for my first year of college.
I hope to be able to gain enough scholarships to continue attending my university going forward and appreciate the opportunity to make paying this year easier.”
